Doyle to York College, Sheets Named Limestone Interim

The Limestone College athletic department and Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics Mike Cerino have announced that Megan Sheets will take the reins of the men's and women's swim team as Interim Head Coach, effective immediately.  She takes over for Greg Doyle who is now Head Coach at York College.  Doyle replaces former head coach Erin Kurtz who left the program in September to pursue other professional opportunities.

Sheets, who was Doyle's assistant coach over the past three years, helped Limestone's women to their highest ever finish at the NCAA Championship.   Under Doyle and sheets Limestone accumulated 50 All-American performances and 28 separate school records while at the helm of the program. His Limestone teams have also performed well in the classroom as they both earned the CSCAA Team Scholar Award three times each.

She and Doyle helped Limestone get back on its feet through roster management as well.  The Saints now boast 41 student-atheltes over 31 just two years ago.

York Athletic Director Paul Saikia was happy to have a coach with the qualifications of Doyle among the pool of candidates.

""We were fortunate, especially considering the timing of this search, to have an outstanding pool of candidates. Greg rose to the top of our list as a perfect fit for our programs and our vision for the future," said Saikia. "He's gained some important experience as a young coach and comes to us with an enthusiasm and drive that will surely promote excellence in form of citizenship, academics, and athletic achievement."

Doyle is pleased to be making the move to York.

"I am excited for the great opportunity to be the head swim coach and aquatics director at York College," said Doyle. "We have a young and talented group of men and women that I believe have a chance to be a championship caliber program. I am looking forward to a long run of success as a Spartan. I would like to thank Assistant Dean for Athletics and Recreation Paul Saikia and the search committee for the outstanding opportunity to lead the York program. I am very excited to get started."

Doyle brings extensive coaching experience to the Spartan program. Prior to his tenure at Limestone, he was an assistant at Washington & Lee for and SUNY-New Paltz.

Doyle is determined to forge a championship program at York.

"I want to have a team that is driven to compete each and every day," says Doyle. "I want teams that are true to strong set of core values that will serve our swimmers throughout their careers, not just their time in York. We want to produce great swimmers but even better students and citizens."
