Miinesota Continues Action at Arena Pro Swim Series

Thirteen current, former and future Gophers competed in the night session the final day of the Arena Pro Swim Series at the sold-out Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center. In addition, four current and former Minnesota swimmers who competed in earlier heats finished in the top 32 of the 800-meter freestyle.

Brooke Zeiger swam in two “A” finals Saturday night. She took seventh (2:17.81) in the 200-meter individual medley, in which Kierra Smith took 10th with a personal-record 2:17.08. Smith previously won the 200 breaststroke on Friday.

Zeiger, who swam in three "A" finals over the meet, later placed eighth in the 200 backstroke with a 2:18.46. She broke her own Minnesota record with a 2:15.89 in prelims. Recent Minnesota signee Tevyn Waddell won the “B” final in 2:15.87.

Samantha Harding finished eighth in the 800 free in 8:40.36. Former Gopher Christine Jennings (9:01.42) was 21st, Erin Emery (9:02.77) 23rd and Breanne Siwicki (9:02.94) 24th.

Jakub Maly finished 10th in the 200 IM with a 2:04.64. Chris Johnson was 13th in the 200 back with a 2:06.13.

Lauren Votava (56.43) finished 20th in the 100 free, and Zoe Avestruz (57.48) was 30th. 

Committed future Gopher Nick Saulnier finished 18th in the 200 back in 2:08.51. Jack Tribble won the “D” final in 2:10.44 to finish 25th. Katelyn Holmquist was 28th in the women’s 200 back.

Daryl Turner (51.40) and Noah Busch (51.98) swam in the final heat of the meet, finishing 27th and 31st, respectively, in the 100 free.
