Staten Island Sweeps Brooklyn

The College of Staten Island men's and women's swimming & diving teams dove into the pool tonight and secured their first win of the season against Brooklyn College at the CSI Sports & Rec Center.  Both the men and women improved to 1-1 overall and 1-0 in the CUNYAC while the Bulldogs dropped to 0-1 over and 0-1 in the CUNYAC.
 
The Dolphins started the meet with a statement win in the women 200 Medley Relay when the team of Hunter Dawkins, Dakota Dawkins, Ewa Wojciechowska, and Naomi Gaggi recorded a time of 2:10.46, 22 seconds ahead of the Brooklyn quad.
 
Kelly Walsh put in a strong showing in the 1000 yard free with a time of 13:18.01 which was 2:10 faster than the second place finisher. The Dolphins looked dominant tonight as they placed first in every single woman's event except the 200 Free Relay in which they placed second.
 
Tim Sweeney led the men to a 150-80 victory over the Bulldogs and broke his own school record (1:47.22) in the 200 Free with a time of 1:46.02. Nicholas Defonte also swam to a first place finish in the 1000 yard Free and finished a whole three minutes ahead of his closest competition.
 
Ayman El Haddad led the Dolphins on the boards and secured a first place finish in both the 1 meter dive and the 3 meter dive with scores of 186.60 and 172.28, respectively.
 
The Dolphins are back in action on Tuesday, November 10 when they travel to William Paterson University for a non-conference dual swim meet.
