Seeing It From The Other Side

By Cammile Adams

This week at women’s NCAA’s has been nothing less that extraordinary. I had the opportunity to work with Collegeswimming.com and truly had so much fun. This was my first year away from college swimming and has brought many mixed emotions.  Although I miss the team atmosphere and close bonds, as I sit in the stands I can’t help but be inspired by the amazing swimming this week.

Obviously, Kelsi Worrell’s 100 fly and Missy Frankli’s 200 free stole the show with their stellar performances on night number two; Two American and NCAA records was so much fun to watch. As day three rolled around history was made again with Simone Manuel. Her 100 free going 46.0 was a blast to watch and even more fun to celebrate with her. The energy on deck and in the stands during those races was something I have never witnessed before at a college meet and it was so much fun to be apart of.

Being on this side of the scenes was something new and exciting for me. I enjoyed watching the girls light up as they relived their races with the press. It was so much fun asking the types of questions I enjoy being asked.  I think my favorite memory this week was interviewing Sarah Henry after her 400 IM win. She continued to challenge and inspire me throughout my college career and beyond and it was so awesome to watch her win her first NCAA Championship title. Watching Sarah win and getting to spend time with her after was one of my favorite memories in my entire swimming career.

Many laughs, hug and fast swims were seen at NCAA’s, making for one week that I’ll never forget. Thanks Collegeswimming.com for this amazing experience!
