Florida Signs Two for Fall

The University of Florida men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams have added a pair of signees to round out the 2015-16 rosters, head coach Gregg Troy announced Monday.

“We are thrilled about the quality and depth of this signing class,” Troy said. “We covered a lot of our needs with these student-athletes. This is an outstanding class of men and women that are not only extremely talented in the pool, but are great students as well.”

On the men’s side, Florida inked a transfer from the University of Michigan in sophomore Alex Katz, a native of Sarasota, Florida.

“We are fortunate to be able to add another talented young man to the team,” said Troy. “Alex has a tremendous skill set and the ability to add to our team in a variety of areas.”

In the diving well, the Gators signed Teya Syskakis, a native of Edmonton, Alberta, to a national letter of intent.

“We’re excited to have Teya as a part of our program,” head diving coach Dale Schultz said. “She was a recent member of the Canadian Junior National Team, so she comes to the University of Florida with some international experience. In addition to seniors Delaney Dye and Kahlia Warner, the depth she will provide for us is huge going forward.”
