Arcadia Promotes King

Arcadia University head men's and women's swimming coach John Geissinger announced that John King has been named the first full-time assistant coach in program history for the upcoming 2015-16 season.

"I want to thank the Arcadia administration for creating this position, which allows us to continue the exciting growth that Arcadia swimming is experiencing," said Geissinger. "I am excited that John King and I are able to continue working together, and look forward to furthering his development as a coaching in the coming years."

King joined the staff on a part-time basis this past season, helping the programs combine to capture three individual Middle Atlantic Conference titles, post 18 all-conference performances and set new records in 22 events at the championships. The men's program recorded a program-best sixth-place finish in the final team standings while setting a new program record for points at the meet.

"I am very excited to be named the first full-time assistant swimming coach at Arcadia," said King. "I look forward to continuing to work with head coach John Geissinger and our student-athletes."

Prior to his arrival in Glenside, King served as an assistant coach at the University of Miami (Fla.) during the 2011-12 campaign, where he worked with the ACC Champion in the women's 100 breaststroke and ACC silver medalist in the women's 100 butterfly, both of whom qualified for the NCAA Division I Championships.

King has additionally served as the head swimming coach at Ridley Park Swim Club, master's coach of the Hurricane Aquatics Masters Team, and assistant coach at Strath Haven High School in nearby Wallingford.

King was a member of the men's swimming team while attending NCAA Division II Bloomsburg University, where he competed in the distance freestyle events. He qualified for the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships in each of his four seasons, and was a bronze medalist in the 1,000 freestyle as a junior. King finished his collegiate career as the Huskies' record-holder in the 1,000 and 1,650 freestyle events.

A native of Folsom, Pennsylvania, King earned his bachelor's degree in exercise science with concentrations in coaching and strength and conditioning from Bloomsburg in 2011.
