Saint Leo University's only home swimming event, which happened to also be Senior Day, ended with smiles as both the men and women's teams cruised to victory over the Rollins College Tars the final day of January. The total tally for the men was Saint Leo 130, Rollins 62 and for the women, Saint Leo 132, Rollins 74. Both men (6-0) and women (7-0-1) finish the season undefeated in dual meets.

Four proud members of the swim teams enjoyed the final home meet of their career at Saint Leo. Rhet Rheinlander, Lindsay Albanese, Jose De Jesus, and Kaitlyn Hite. Rheinlander finished the day with an individual second place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 22.21 and a first place finish as the anchor in the 200 Free Relay (1:29.28). Lindsay Albanese had an individual second place finish in the 500 Free touching the wall in 5:28.47, just seconds off the pace set by teammate Joanna Dembska (5:25.23). De Jesus finished third in the 50 Free, fractions of a second behind Rheinlander with a time of 22.84 and swam a leg of the first place 200 Medley relay (1:34.07). Hite finished second in her only individual race of the day, the 200 IM, in which she finished in 2:17.37, but she anchored the first place 200 Free relay squad (1:42.12).

The Bains siblings combined for six, first place finishes. Hunter paced the 100 Breast (59.34) and the 50 Free (21.84) while also anchoring the winning 200 Medley relay. Isabella took the 50 Free (25.59) and swam legs on both the 200 Medley (1:51.19) and the 200 Free (1:42.12) relays.

Daniel Bis, Nicole Weber, Matheus Assis, and Natalia Garriock all contributed multiple first place finishes to their teams.

"Today was special as we had many alumni, parents, other Saint Leo programs, and community members at this meet today," said Swimming head coach Paul Mangen. "Our athletic department facilitated a great event that allowed our seniors and their teammates to showcase their talents. It was a great day to be a part of the Saint Leo athletic department. I'm especially proud that we were able to deliver for all our supporters today."

The Lions are now turning their focus to the upcoming Sunshine State Conference Championships which will take place February 19-22 in Orlando, Florida.
