Miami (OH) Women Beat Toledo

Miami University's women’s swimming and diving team won their last home meet on senior day, topping Toledo 197-103 on Saturday afternoon at the Nixon Aquatic Center.

Seven seniors, Katie Bootsma, Courtney Collett, Emma Craig, Caitlin Fujan, Annie Marquiss, Whitney Mitchell and Stephanie Pearce, were honored before the meet.

The 400-yard relay was won by the team of sophomore Brittany Dudzinski, sophomore Stephanie LeMire, freshman Katherine Kuhl and Marquiss with a time of 3:49.65.

LeMire had a big day for the RedHawks, winning the 100-yard breaststroke, clocking in at 1:03.20. She also earned first place for her 2:17.31 time in the 200-yard breaststroke. Freshman Holly Schuster clocked in right behind her for second place in 2:20.07. Schuster won the 200-yard IM in a time of 2:05.99, leading a Miami sweep of the top three spots with LeMire in second (2:06.31) and junior Aubrey Kluth (2:09.70) in third place.

Pearce won the 1650-yard freestyle with a time of 17:20.33. Freshman Shay Spelman touched the wall in 17:28.26 in the event, earning her second place. She also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle, clocking in at 5:06.89.

Touching the wall in 23.83 in the 50-yard freestyle was Marquiss. She finished in second place in the 100-yard freestyle (52.22), only being eclipsed by fellow RedHawk swimmer, junior Natalie Rohr (51.99).

Dudzinski won the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 57.18.

Sophomore Kathleen Dodson had a second-place finish in the 200-yard butterfly, with a time of 2:07.27. Junior Emma Szczupakiewicz was the third-place finisher in the event, touching the wall in 2:07.65. Dodson also came in third place in the 100-yard butterfly (58.07), while teammate, junior Stephanie Nemeth, earned second with a time of 57.89.

Junior Michele Rielly had a time of 2:03.24 in the 200-yard backstroke, good enough for second place. Right behind her was Kuhl, who clocked in at 2:05.26 for third place.

Sophomore Elise Campbell was the third-place finisher in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 1:54.24.

Sophomore diver Pei Lin won the three- and one-meter dive for the second straight meet, with scores of 300.29 and 312.60, respectively. Sophomore Jenna Karrow placed second in the one-meter dive, scoring a 260.93.

The 400-yard freestyle relay was won by Elise Campbell, Rohr, junior Sara Krueger and Marquiss, clocking in at 3:30.14.

The RedHawks travel to Athens, Ohio on Saturday, Feb. 7 to take on Ohio University for their last dual meet of the season at 1 p.m. in the Ohio University Aquatic Center.
