Westminster Sweeps Saint Vincent

The Westminster College men's and women's swimming & diving team swept Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) foe Saint Vincent College at home on Saturday.

The Titan men's team (8-2, 3-0 PAC) won 163-94, while the Titan women's team (8-3, 4-0 PAC) won 148-109. The Bearcat men's team falls to 5-3 overall and 3-1 in the PAC, while the Bearcat women's team drops to 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the conference.

The Titan men's team won 12 events, while the Titan women's team won eight events. Westminster also won three events in which it used three exhibition swimmers.

Senior Steven Brooks (Boardman, OH / Boardman) and freshman Mitch Stahara (Bethel Park, PA / Bethel Park) won three events each. Brooks won the 100 backstroke (51.38), the 200 backstroke (1:55.59), and the 50 freestyle (21.86). Stahara placed first in the 100 freestyle (48.30), the 200 freestyle (1:44.79), and the 500 freestyle (5:00.51).

Senior Nicholas Smith (Indiana, PA / Indiana) won a pair of events as he touched first in the 200 butterfly (1:58.03) and the 1,000 freestyle (10:11.47).

Junior Matt Baurle (Jeannette, PA / Penn Trafford) won two events and was also part of a winning relay team. Baurle swept the breaststrokes as he won the 100 (58.95) and the 200 (2:13.65). He was also the second leg of the 200 medley relay team that won with a time of 1:36.96. Completing the quartet were junior Austin Karper (Carlisle, PA / Carlisle), freshman Brad Kolesar (West Mifflin, PA / West Mifflin), and senior Jake Pletz (Venetia, PA / Peters Township). Kolesar also won the 100 butterfly (52.53).

Junior Kelsey Reott (Butler, PA / Slippery Rock) led the Titan women's team as she won two individual events and was part of a winning relay team. Reott won the 200 freestyle (2:00.78) and the 200 backstroke (2:15.18). Reott was also the fourth leg of the 200 medley relay team that won at 1:52.66. Completing the quartet were senior Marina Rozick (Pittsburgh, PA / North Allegheny), sophomore Samantha Tower (Export, PA / Franklin Regional), and senior Rebecca Mobley (Gibsonia, PA / Pine-Richland).

Rozick (100 backstroke/1:02.78), Tower (100 breaststroke/1:10.04), and Mobley (100 butterfly/1:02.02) also picked up individual wins.

Sophomore Mikayla Morrow (Columbiana, OH / Homeschool) and first-year Lindsay Homan (Penfield, NY / Penfield) rounded out the first-place finishers for the Titans as Morrow touched first in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.13) and Homan won the 200 butterfly (2:15.54).

Westminster is back in the pool Thursday when it travels to Grove City College with a start time of 6 p.m.
