Miami University’s women’s swimming and diving team chalked up another win on Saturday, Jan. 24, defeating Ball State University 186-11 at the Lewellen Aquatic Center. The RedHawks are now 5-2 in dual meets.
The RedHawks were carried by 10 individual race wins.
Freshman Holly Schuster won two individual events on the day. She swam a time of 2:23.63 in the 200-yard breaststroke to earn first place. Schuster also tied junior Aubrey Kluth for first place in the 200-yard IM. The pair both clocked in at 2:09.45.
The RedHawks new sophomore diver, Pei Lin, made a statement, winning both the one-meter dive (313.58) and the three-meter dive (276.90).
Freshman Shay Spelman touched the wall in 10:34.84 in the 1000-yard freestyle to earn the win.
Sophomore Brittany Dudzinski won the 100-yard backstroke, clocking in at 58.04.
Sophomore Stephanie LeMire swam a time of 1:05.10 in the 100-yard breaststroke, earning her first place.
Swimming a 24.11 in the 50-yard freestyle to win the event was senior Annie Marquiss.
Junior Michele Rielly won the 200-yard backstroke by touching the wall in 2:06.12.
Senior Stephanie Pearce clocked in at 5:09.43 in the 500-yard freestyle for the win.
Miami won the 200-yard medley relay in 1:47.49 with the team of Dudzinski, LeMire, junior Gabrielle Veri and sophomore Elise Campbell.
The 400-yard freestyle relay was also won by the RedHawks with the combination of junior Sara Krueger, junior Natalie Rohr, LeMire and Marquiss, who finished in 3:32.02.
Miami competes again on Saturday, Jan. 31 at 1 p.m. in the Nixon Aquatic Center, where they will take on Toledo.
