Frostburg State Falls to Randolph-Macon

Freshman Macey Nitchie finished with two wins, but the Frostburg State men's and women's swimming teams came up short in Saturday's tri-meet against the Randolph-Macon Yellow Jackets and the York (Pa.) Spartans.

The FSU men suffered an 80-15 loss to the Spartans, and an 82-13 loss to the Yellow Jackets.

Freshman Christian March picked up a second-place finish in the men's 50-meter freestyle (24.63). He then joined teammates Jon Shepard (junior), James Williams (freshman), and Marquell Proctor (freshman) in the 200-meter medley relay for third place (1:55.97).

Shepard also posted the Bobcats' third-place time of 1:09.04 in the 100-meter breaststroke.

The FSU women also fell to Randolph-Macon and York (Pa.) 70-25 and 65-30, respectively.

Nitchie prevailed over all lanes in the 100-meter freestyle (1:02.04), and then earned another first-place finish in the 50-meter freestyle (28.03).

Junior Kaitlyn Donch touched the wall at 1:23.36 earning her a second-place finish in the 100-meter backstroke. Senior Jaclyn Franzak also cleared second place in the 100-meter butterfly with a time of 1:12.36.

Franzak, Donch, and Nitchie teamed with junior Maci Quintanilla in the 200-meter medley relay for a runner-up finish with a time of 2:12.79.

FSU men's and women's swimming teams will compete at Davis and Elkins Friday, January 23 at 6 pm.
