Nova Southeastern Sweeps Bridgeport

The Nova Southeastern University swimming and diving teams made quick work of the visiting Bridgeport Purple Knights, winning by a score of 140-63 on the women's side and 122-83 on the men's side.
 
The Sharks swept the first two events of the day, winning the women's and men's 400-yard relay. The women's A-team, consisting of Courtney DeVeny (Fr., Estero, Fla.), Malin Westman (Fr., Harryda, Sweden), Emma Lawrenz (Sr., Mennetonka, Minn.) and Jordan Shows (Fr., Alta Loma, Calif.) swam a first-place time of 3:58.15. The men's A-team, consisting of Marco Aldabe (So., Alicante, Spain), Anton Lobanov (Fr., Novosibirisk, Russia), Thiago Sickert (So., Vila Velha, Brazil) and Magnus Lundgren (Sr., Stockholm, Sweden), followed with a first-place NCAA provisional time of 3:21.06.
 
Brooke Munion (So., Bethlehem, Pa.) earned a win in the women's 1000-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 10.37.88. Munion also won the women's 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.40. Blake Woodrow (Fr., Fort Myers, Fla.) swam a first-place time of 9:44.00 in the men's 1000-yard freestyle.
 
Wahlstrom followed Woodrow with a NCAA provisional time of 1:53.59 in the women's 200-yard freestyle. Wahlstrom also won the women's 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.27. Shane Kleinbeck (Sr., San Antonio, Texas) earned one individual win in the men's 200-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 1:41.55. Kleinbeck also finished in second place in the men's 500-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 4:40.85. 
 
Hansen swam two NCAA provisional times of 23.73 and 52.04 in the women's 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle, respectively. Hansen's teammate, Sickert, also swam a NCAA provisional time in the men's 100-yard freestyle, swimming a time of 44:97. In the men's 50-yard freestyle, Lobanov swam a second-place time of 21.23. Lobanov added a win to his day, swimming a first-place time of 2:03.94 in the men's 200-yard breastroke. In the women's 200-yard butterfly, DeVeny earned a win, swimming a time of 2:11.51. Thomas Rutherford (Fr., North Port, Fla.) followed DeVeny in the men's 200-yard butterfly, swimming a second-place time of 1:54.13.
 
In the women's 200-yard individual medley, Westman swam a first-place time of 2:11.16. Westman also swam to a first-place finish in the women's 200-yard breaststroke, swimming a time of 2:23.31. Westman was followed by her teammate, Aldabe, took first place, swimming a time of 1:54.49. Aldabe also won the men's 200-yard backstroke, swimming a time of 1:52.29.
 
The meet concluded with a sweep of the men's and women's 400-yard medley relays. On the women's side, NSU's A-team cruised to a first-place finish, posting a time of 3:34.61. They were followed the men's A-team who crushed the field, swimming a time of 2:58.11, more than 15 seconds ahead of the second and third-place finishers.
 
The Sharks will be back in action on January 31st at Florida Tech.
