Georgia Southern Defeats Gardner-Webb

It was an incredible day in the pool for the Eagles, as they defeated the Gardner-Webb Runnin' Bulldogs 144.5 to 112.5.  In addition to the team win, two pool records fell as Lauren Campbell set a new pool mark in the 200 fly with a time of 2:06.38.  Teammate Christina Moran also set a pool record with a time of 2:05.07 in the 200 back. 
 
"We had a total team effort today. It wasn't about one or two individuals, but everyone stepped up and raced well. Coming off of a heavy training cycle over winter break, I was particularly pleased and a bit surprised with how we performed."
 
The meet opened with the 200 medley relay and a Eagles win by over half a second.  The team of Moran, Amber Cortazzo, Megan Heller and Elaina Lanson finished in 1:49.29 to secure the victory.
 
It was a 1-2-3 finish for the Eagles in the 200 free as Kylee Parsons secured 1st place with a time of 1:55.41.   Cortazzo was 2nd in 1:56.29, andKaylyn Thomas finished 3rd in 1:58.25.
 
Sprinter Lanson took flight in the 50 and 100 free events, winning both, with times of 23.76 and 52.27 respectively.  Parsons was 2nd in the 100 free finishing in 52.87.
 
The 200 back was another 1-2-3 Eagles finish as Campbell and Schwarz finished just behind teammate Moran with times of 2:08.88 and 2:10.21.
 
In the 500 free, Parsons proved victorious touching nearly 2 seconds ahead of the pack in 5:09.91
 
Moran set the pace in the 100 back as she got the victory in 58.83 while teammate Sarah Schwartz was 2nd with a time of 1:00.95
 
In the 1000 free, Amber Juncker finished 2nd with a time of 10:49.25 while Allyn Case was 2nd in the 100 breast touching in 1:08.78.  Teammate Cortazzo managed a 2nd place showing in the 100 butterfly touching in 58.42.
