Utah Men Finish First Day Against USC

Utah men’s swimming and diving finished the first day against USC with Bence Kiraly taking first in the 1,650 free at the Ute Natatorium.

The 1,650 free from today’s session is the only event counting towards tomorrows final score. The other five events were exhibition and were not scored. 

Kiraly touched in first in the 1,650 with a time of 14:55.16; with the altitude adjustment, 23 seconds have been deducted from his time according to USA Swimming.

Also in the 1,650 free, Brandon Shreeve took third with a time of 16:03.56 with Matthew Bolinger (16:11.03) and Calvin Rogers following (16:19.49).

In exhibition, teaming together to take second in the 200 free relay was Nick Soedel, Alex Brown, Austin Phillips and David Fraser with a time of 1:22.05. Soedel touched in 19.59. In the 50 back, Kristian Kron took second (23.26). Jack Burton took second in the 50 breast (25.83) while Alex Fernandes took first in the 50 fly with a time of 21.57. In the 400 medley relay, team of Brandon Deckard, Burton, Fernandes and Kron took third with a time of 3:18.72.

Tomorrow’s session will begin at 11 a.m. MT.
