Going into his 37th season, TCU swimming & diving coach Richard Sybesma and his staff put together a strong incoming class consisting of 26 signees who will make an immediate impact on the program.
Victoria Barczyk, a native of Lafayette, La., is a freestyle and IM swimmer. She ranks 8th in the state of Louisiana, according to CollegeSwimming.com and swims for Ascension Episcopal School. Her personal-bests include 53.81 (100 free), 1:55.06 (200 free), 5:03.08 (500 free) and 10:25.66 (1000 free).
Megan Bowers, from Gilbert, Arizona, competes for Gilbert Classical Academy and the Sun Devil Divers. She has competed at the last eight USA Diving Summer Junior Regional Championships and she recorded a pair of top three finishes in the 1-meter and 3-meter dive events at the most recent pre-regional meet.
Kyla Bradley, a native of La Canada, California, competed as a diver for Flintridge Preparatory School and the Rose Bowl Aquatics Dive team. While also competing as the Junior Olympic level, Bradley has also been at the USA Speedo Nationals, USA Age Group Nationals and AAU Nationals.
Heyward Brown, a native of Greenville, S.C., competes primarily in the distance free, fly and IM events. His top times include: 4:33.97 (500 free), 9:17.13 (1000 free) and 15:39.32 (1650 free). Brown is rated as the No. 4 swimmer in the state of South Carolina by CollegeSwimming.com.
Ally Coyne, the Winter Park, Florida native, was the team captain at Trinity Preparatory School her sophomore, junior and senior seasons. Her top times include: 1:06.55 (100 breast), 2:27.30 (200 breast) and 25.24 (50 free).
Jonathan Drewes, from Missouri City, Texas, competes for Clements High School and First Colony Swim Team. At this year’s Texas 6A State Championships, he placed second in both the 100 free at 45.11 and the 50 free at 20.51. CollegeSwimming.com ranks him as the No. 6 swimming in the state of Texas.
Kelli Funk, a native of Fresno, California, is a diver for Clovis West High School and Clovis Dive Club. Funk has also competed in the last two USA Diving Summer Junior Zone Championships and finished second at the 2015 Clovis West Diving Invitational.
Alexander Garriga, a San Antonio native, competes in the fly and IM events. His top times in the 100 & 200 fly are 50.79 and 1:51.04, respectively, while posting marks of 1:53.46 in the 200 IM and 4:05.82 in the 400 IM. He swims for Ronald Reagan High School and the Alamo Area Aquatics Association. Garriga ranks 28thin the state of Texas by CollegeSwimming.com.
Madison Ibrahim, also from Austin, competes for Vandegrift High School and Nitro Swimming. At the 2015 American Short Course Championships, she tallied a third-place finish in the 100 back at 55.55, and also racked up a time of 2:02.15 in the 200 back. Ibrahim is ranked in the top 25 in the state of Texas, according to CollegeSwimming.com.
Rhorer Legendre is a two-time Texas State Championship 5A qualifier and a two-time member of the USA Swimming Scholastic All-American Team. He placed seventh at the NSCA Long Course Junior National Championships last summer in the 1500 free. Primarily a distance swimmer from The Woodlands, his top times include: 1:43.02 (200 free), 4:33.90 (500 free), 9:29.38 (1000 free), 15:39.69 (1650 free) and 1:55.68 (200 fly). He ranks 22nd in the state of Texas, according to CollegeSwimming.com.
Bryn Lohrberg, a sprinter from Waterloo, Neb., competes in the freestyle and breaststroke events. Her best times include: 24.22 (50 free), 52.72 (100 free) and 1:07.47 (100 breast). She holds a second-place rank in the state of Nebraska for her overall class, by CollegeSwimming.com.
Catherine Maxey, a freestyle and butterfly competitor from Charlotte, N.C., swims for Providence High School and Swim Mac. Her personal-bests in 200 free and 500 free are 1:51.67 and 4:59.43, respectively, as well as 56.22 in the 100 fly and 2:02.93 in the 200 fly. She ranks 18th in the state of North Carolina by CollegeSwimming.com.
Jack McLaughlin is a sprint freestyler and butterfly swimmer from Corpus Christi. His top times include: 21.28 (50 free), 46.28 (100 free), 1:40.56 (200 free), 50.49 (100 fly) and 1:54.3 (200 fly). McLaughlin is the No. 15 swimmer in the state of Texas, according to CollegeSwimming.com.
Grace Newell, a native of Louisville, Colo., competes for Monarch High School and Sagebrush Diving. She competed at the AAU Nationals in three-straight years (2011-13) and was up for All-America consideration sophomore year. She also earned state honors freshman and sophomore years.
Ruby Powell, from Deerfield, Ill., is a backstroke and sprint freestyler. She is ranked 22nd in the state of Illinois for her class, according to CollegeSwimming.com. Swimming for Deerfield High School and the Coho Swim Club, she has posted career-highs in the 100 back (56.6), 200 back (2:03), 50 free (24.4) and the 100 free (53.0).
Alexandra Robertson, from Edmond, Okla., swims for Edmond North High School and the Extreme Aquatic Team. Her top times include: 2:03.6 (200 IM), 2:23.1 (400 IM) and 1:04.26 (100 breast). Robertson is ranked second in the state of Oklahoma, according to CollegeSwimming.com.
Micaela Roemer, a sprint and butterfly competitor from League City, competes for Clear Creek High School and the South Shore Sails team. She was a winter Junior National qualifier and NCSA Junior National finalist. Her top times include 23.73 (50 free), 51.57 (100 free) and 55.40 (100 fly). She ranks 17th in the state of Texas for her class by CollegeSwimming.com.
Leo Sanchez, a native of El Paso, swims for Eastwood High School and the Desert Shark Swim Club. Last season, he earned the state title in the 200 free. His top times include: 45.47 (100 free), 1:38.33 (200 free), 4:42.31 (500 free), 1:54.91 (200 IM) and 52.27 (100 back). Sanchez is ranked fourth in the state of Texas, according to CollegeSwimming.com.
Jessica Short, a native of Grafton, Wis., primarily competes in the backstroke, but also in the free and IM events. Her personal-bests are 24.22 in the 50 free, 51.80 in the 100 free, 2:06.00 in the 200 IM, 56.68 in the 100 back and 2:00.51 in the 200 back. She ranks ninth in the state of Wisconsin by CollegeSwimming.com.
Andrew Shurtleff, from Flower Mound, competes for Flower Mound High School. At the Lewisville Independent School District Swimming and Diving Invitational, he broke the school record and then broke his own record again on Nov. 6 in the 11 dive event with a mark of 436.85. He also received All-America honors for his performances during his junior season.
John Smith, a native of Hunstville, Alabama, posted a third-place finish at the Conference USA Championships last season in the 100 fly behind a time of 49.26 seconds. His personal-bests in the 50 free and 200 fly also came at the conference meet at marks of 20.64 and 1:48.84, respectively. He was also named to the Commissioner’s Honor Roll from the Conference USA.
Ross Sullivan, a native of Austin, Texas, swims for McNeil High School and Lone Star Aquatics. At the 2014-15 Texas 6A State Championships in February, he posted a time of 45.16 in the 100-yard freestyle and placed third. His top time in the 50 free came at a mark of 20.98 seconds. Sullivan is ranked No. 13 in the state of Texas, according to CollegeSwimming.com.
Tommy Thach, a native of Burien, Wash., is a sprinter who competes for John F. Kennedy High School and the Central Area Aquatic Team. He’s posted personal-bests in the 50 free (21.13), 100 free (45.28), 200 free (1:37.9) and the 200 IM (1:49.2). He ranks third in the state of Washington by CollegeSwimming.com.
Rileigh Thornton, a native of Flower Mound, Texas, swims for Flower Mound Marcus High School and the Lakeside Aquatic Club. Her top times include: 200 back at 2:04.36, 50 free at 24.38 and the 100 free at 52.98.
Drew Webb, a native of San Diego, Calif., dives for Del Norte High School and the San Diego State Divers. His top score in the 1-meter 6 dives is a mark of 278. In 11 dives, his best scores include 479 in the 1-meter and 379 in the 3-meter dive. He also competed at the 2014 USA Diving Summer Junior Zone E Championships, posting times of 374.65 and 369.95 in the 1-meter and 3-meter, respectively.
Jessie Woolley-MacMath competes primarily in the free and IM events. The Austin native swims for McCallum High School and Longhorn Aquatics. Her top times include: 1:53.24 (200 free), 4:58.35 (500 free), 17:06.86 (1650 free) and 4:31.33 (400 IM). She is ranked 32nd in the state of Texas, according to CollegeSwimming.com.
