Denver's Roas Wins German 50 Back Title

University of Denver sophomore swimmer Johanna Roas (Munich, Germany) is currently competing at the German National Championships and is competing quite well.

On Thursday evening, Roas swam on the mixed-gender 4 x 100 FR relay team that finished in second place. Roas swam the anchor leg and posted a time of 55.94.

Roas also qualified first in the 50-meter backstroke preliminaries and won the event Friday with a time of 28.30. In addition she then anchored her club team's 4 x 100 FR women's relay which won the gold medal. Her split time was 56.22.

"Could not be more excited," said Denver head coach Brian Schrader.  "Johanna really took care of business this year and to turn around after NCAAs and get back to work to prepare for this is a testament to her.  I know this meant a lot to her, and for her to make the top of the podium is awesome, and I hope she makes the national team for Germany this summer."

Later in the meet, Roas will participate in individual races in the 100-meter back and 100-meter freestyle, as well as other relays.
