Frostburg State Sweeps Stevenson, Falls to Goucher, Hood

The Frostburg men's and women's swimming team each walked away with a win against Stevenson while falling to Goucher and Hood, Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats lit up the scoreboard today with a collective nine top-three finishes.

As both teams struggled against Goucher and Hood, the women's team was still able to account for a total of four top-three finishes, two of which were first-place completions.

Freshman Macey Nitchie started the meet off taking the 50-meter freestyle in 28.72. She continued this streak with her second win of the day in the 100-meter freestyle (1:03.70).

Senior Jaclyn Franzak took third place in the 100-meter butterfly (1:15.94). In the next event, Senior Kaitlyn Donch fought right behind Franzak as she swam a 1:25.54 for third place in the 100-meter breaststroke.

Senior Jon Shepard led the men's squad offering a single win in the 100-meter breaststroke (1:10.16), and third-place in the 200-meter Individual Medley (2:26.33).

Freshmen Christian March, James Williams, and David Rubino each contributed a third-place finish for the Bobcats. March finished the 50-meter free in 25.52, trailing close behind the Hood swimmer who took second. In the 100-meter backstroke Williams' time of 1:07.92 earned him third place.

March, Williams, and Shepard also paired with freshman Marquell Proctor to take second in the 200-meter medley relay (1:56.30).  

The Bobcats will be back in the water next Saturday, November 1 at Alderson-Broaddus with Washington & Jefferson at 1:00pm.
