Oberlin Takes Fourth, Seventh at Kenyon Relays

The Oberlin College swimming and diving teams opened the season on Saturday afternoon on the campuses of Kenyon College and Denison University for the NCAC Relays.
 
The Yeowomen tied for fourth out of eight teams with 42 points, while the Yeomen were seventh with 22 points.
 
In the first event of the day the Oberlin women placed 11th in the 200-yard medley relay to earn two points. The foursome of Kathleen Falk, Samma Regan, Oriene Shiel and Nora Cooper stopped the clock in 1:55.79.
 
In the breaststroke relay, the Yeowomen checked in fifth with a timestamp of 2:12.15. Earning four team points were Deirdre Haren, Emily Stanford, Shiel and Regan.
 
In the 500-yard Crescendo, Oberlin added eight more points with a time of 4:49.10. The Yeowomen also got eight points in the 1,500-yard relay as Regan, Falk and Cooper completed the course in 16:37.94.
 
The butterfly relay featured Liora Mael, Allison Susin, Melissa Harris and Shiel as they added four points with a 10th-place finish in 1:56.32.
 
On the men's end the diving tandem of Chris McLauchlan and Benjamin Miyamoto placed third in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events.  On the short board the duo totaled 395.20 points, and from up high they posted a score of 369.60.
 
The Oberlin swimmers will be back in action on October 31 when Hiram College comes to town for a dual meet.
