Minnesota Grand Prix Recaps - Day 3

Purdue

Two more A finals berths for Guillermo Blanco and a fifth-place finish for Nate Hopkins in the mile highlighted the third and final day of action for Purdue men’s swimming at the Arena/Minnesota Grand Prix Saturday.

Blanco qualified for the A finals of the 200 IM (third, 1:46.56) and 200 backstroke (eighth, 1:46.41) to finish the meet having advanced to four A finals for the second year in a row.

Hopkins took fifth in the 1650 free (15:27.60) and Jan Karel Petric (eighth, 15:35.98) also finished among the top eight in the event.

Danny Conway was the runner-up in the B final of the 200 IM while improving on his 10th-fastest time (1:48.83) in program history.

Purdue also finished as the runner-up in the 400 medley relay. Stephen Seliskar, Lyam Dias, Blanco and Josh Ehrman teamed up for a time of 3:16.22.

Adam Noens won the D final of the 200 IM.

The Purdue swimmers are idle from competition until hosting Michigan State Jan. 9-10 at the Boilermaker Aquatic Center. Selected divers will compete at the USA Diving Winter Nationals in Columbus, Dec. 16-21.
