Vermont

The Vermont women's swimming and diving team set three new varsity program records on the first day of the Bucknell Invitational. The Catamounts sit in a tie for fifth place with two days of competition remaining.

In the first event of the invitational, Vermont's relay team of Andie Blaser, Courtney Gray, Sarah Mantz and Christa Weaver combined to swim the 200 free relay in 1:34.63, which broke the old varsity record of 1:34.64 that the same four swimmers set at the America East Championships last season.

Weaver also broke her own UVM varsity record in the 50 free with a time of 23.54, eclipsing her old mark of 23.61 which she set at the conference championships in February. Weaver's time put her in fourth place in the event, while Blaser was the Catamounts' next top finisher with a seventh-place finish in 23.78.

The Catamounts closed out the first day of competition with a new program record in the 400 medley relay. Ilsa Feierabend, Shannon Cowley, Blaser and Weaver raced to a 3:48.91 finish to set the new Catamount mark and register the team's third broken record of the night.

Feierabend was Vermont's top swimmer in the 500 free, placing eighth in a time of 5:06.28. Cowley finished first among Catamounts in the 200 IM with a time of 2:08.52.
