Georgia Adds Two

James Guest and Colin Monaghan have signed national letters of intent with the Georgia men’s swimming team.

Guest, a native of Baie-D’Urfé, Montreal, Quebec, attends John Abbott College. He is the Canadian national record holder in the 200-meter breaststroke for the 15-16 age group. Guest was a member of the Canadian National Junior Team and reached the finals of the Junior Pan Pacific Championships. He is ranked No. 22 in the world for 17-18 in the 100-meter breaststroke and No. 28 in the 200-meter breaststroke. Guest also is accomplished in the individual medley.

Monaghan attends Gainesville (Ga.) High School and swims for Coach Jim Young at Lanier Aquatics. Monaghan is one of the top three prospects in the state and he was nationally ranked a year ago in the 100 breaststroke and the 200 and 400 individual medley. He was the 2014 state champion in the 100 breaststroke. Monaghan earned All-America and Academic All-America status.

“James and Colin are dedicated to their swimming and their academics, which is a great fit with the rest of our student-athletes,” said Harvey Humphries, Georgia’s Acting Head Coach. “We are happy to be adding them to our program. We believe they will make an immediate impact.”
