Bentley Splits with Roger Williams

Bentley University sophomore Kaitlin McGahie (Boylston, Mass./Tahanto Reg. HS) was a double-winner but Roger Williams University registered a total of nine victories while posting a 148-86 win over the visiting Falcons in women’s college swimming Friday night.
                
McGahie captured the 50 yard freestyle in 25.75, the team’s best time of the season in the event, and was also victorious in the 100 free (56.12).
                
Also posting victories for the 1-2 Falcons were senior Paige Wilde (Naugatuck, Conn./Holy Cross HS) in the one-meter diving (232.20) and freshman Anne Warren (Ellicott City, Md./Mt. Hebron HS) in the 200 butterfly (2:19.05). Both of those also turned in a second-place performance, Wilde off the three-meter board (195.22) and Warren in the 1000 free (11:23.16).
                
Bentley’s other two seconds were registered by senior Nadine Edwards (Danbury, Conn./ Danbury HS) in the 500 free (a season-best 5:28.99) and freshman Emily Niemiec (Meriden, Conn/ Francis T. Maloney HS) in the 200 breaststroke (2:36.90).
                
Bentley’s next action is Sunday in Troy, N.Y. (RPI) against the College of Saint Rose.


Juniors Sebastian Bury (Bellevue, Wash./Newport Senior HS) and Colton Bridge (Tolland, Conn./Tolland HS) each won two events, as did freshman Aiden Karam (Norwich, Conn./Norwich Free Academy), as Bentley University posted a 151-90 win over Roger Williams University in men’s swimming and diving at the RWU pool Friday night.
                
Bury captured both the 50- and 100-yard freestyle events with times of 22.61 and 49.46, respectively, while Karam’s wins came in the 200 free (1:50.49) and the 500 free (5:08.16). They also combined with freshman Chris Vukas (Randolph, N.J./Randolph HS) and sophomore Davis Wilson (Ransom Canyon, Texas/Lubbock HS) for a winning effort of 3:18.37 in the 400 free relay.
                
Bridge and sophomore teammate Nick Cilia (Brentwood, N.H./Exeter HS) went 1-2 in the two diving events. Bridge claimed the one meter with a 263.10 and won the three-meter in 238.05. Cilia’s scorers were 191.62 in the one-meter and 180.52 from the high board.
                
The other winners were Wilson in the 1000 free (10:39.94) and senior Josh Witty (Los Gatos, Calif./Los Gatos HS) in the 200 backstroke (2:02.06).
                
Bentley, 1-2, is back in action on Sunday when they swim against the College of Saint Rose at RPI in Troy, N.Y. (1 pm).
