Washington U./St. Louis Sweeps DePauw

 The Washington University in St. Louis men's and women's swimming & diving teams each defeated DePauw University in dual meets Saturday afternoon. The Washington U. women won 13 of 16 events to defeat the Tigers 187-106, while the Washington U. men won nine events en route to a 156-132 victory.

Nine different individuals won events for the Washington U. women at the meet. Freshman Nicole Zanolli posted a season-best time of 10:30.04 to win the 1,000 freestyle, and added a second win in the 200 backstroke (2:10.05). Freshman Niamh O'Grady also won a pair of events, taking first in the 100 backstroke in 59.74 and leading a first- through fourth-place sweep for the Bears in the 100 freestyle with a season-best time of 53.59. Sophomores MariMac Collins (54.61) and Claire Savage (54.65) also had season-bests to finish second and third, while junior Grace Counts was fourth in 55.44.

Sophomore Emily Ramos was the other double winner for the Washington U. women, posting season-best scores to win both the one-meter (216.05) and three-meter (226.80) diving events. Collins won the 200 free with a season-best time of 1:56.29. Savage won led a 1-2-3 finish for Washington U. in the 50 free with a season-best time of 25.01, edging freshman Fiona Hon (25.02) and Collins (25.33).

Junior Reed Dalton had one of the best performances of the day for Washington U., winning the men's 100 butterfly with a B-cut time of 49.91. Dalton also swam on the Bears' 200-medley relay with junior Kaisen Yao and sophomores Michael Lagieski and Justin Morrell to win with a season-best time of 1:33.52.

Lagieski and Morrell each won two events for the Washington U. men. Lagieski and sophomore Reese Frerichs finished 1-2 in the 100 breaststroke in times of 58.44 and 58.82, respectively. The duo also took the top-two spots in the 200 breaststroke with times of 2:10.83 and 2:12.79. Morrell clocked a season-best time of 47.06 to win the 100 freestyle, and also won the 50 free in 21.47.

Senior Zane Turpin (9:59.92) and sophomore Andrew Ellison (10:07.31) finished first and second, respectively, in the men's 1,000 free. Junior RJ Petrella won the 200 backstroke in 1:58.28, and sophomore Matt Liu was Washington U.'s final event-winner, taking first in the 200 individual medley in 1:56.22.

The Washington U. women won four other individual events, and also took first in the 200-medley relay. O'Grady, freshman Devon Litteral, sophomore Lauren Carlos and Savage won the relay with a time of 1:52.01. Litteral posted a season-best time to also take first in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.88), while Carlos led a 1-2-3- finish for the Bears in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.93. Junior Amanda Stadermann (1:00.57) and Hon (1:00.58) placed second and third, respectively. Stadermann added a first-place finish in the 200 butterfly in 2:09.61. Junior Toireasa Rafferty-Millett (2:32.33) and Litteral (2:33.09) finished first and second, respectively, in the 200 breaststroke.

The Washington University swimming & diving teams return home to host a dual meet against the University of Chicago at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8.
