Regis Women Tie Bridgewater State; Men Fall

The Regis College men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams met Bridgewater State University on Saturday morning in a dual meet in Weston, Mass. The men’s teams tied at 113, while the Bears defeated the women’s squad, 126-104.

For the men, the 200 medley relay team of Kiet Luong (Malden, Mass.), A.J. Graf (Newton, Mass.), Nick Rainville (Reading, Mass.), and Joe Woods (Milton, Mass.) took home the top time at 1:46:10. Luong would add wins in the 200 yard freestyle (1:51.77) and 100 yard backstroke (1:04.71), while A.J. Graf had wins in the 50 yard freestyle (22.89) and 100 yard freestyle (51.00).

Nick Rainville posted wins in the 200 yard individual medley (2:14.22) as well as the 100 yard butterfly (56.67). Michael Bruno (Winthrop, Mass.) continued his strong stretch of distance races with a win in the 1,000 yard freestyle with a time of 11:28.31. Cassidy Bastinelli (Newton, Mass.) also added a win in the 500 yard freestyle (5:14.47).

On the women’s side, the 200 yard medley relay team of current GNAC Rookie of the Week Jessica Higgins (Peabody, Mass.), Lucia Llorente-Ruiz (Newton, Mass.), Shannan O’Neil (Lowell, Mass.), and Ashlyn Deroche (North Reading, Mass.) added another win in their event with a time of 2:02.38. Higgins would add wins in the 200 yard freestyle (2:07.13) and the 100 yard backstroke (1:06.12).

Shannan O’Neil took home wins in the 50 yard freestyle (27.54) and the 100 yard freestyle (59.71).

Haley Bowen (Litchfield, N.H.) won three races on the day to lead the Pride, posting victories in the 1,000 yard freestyle (12:07.32), 200 yard individual medley (2:26.65), and 100 yard breaststroke (1:12.88).

Both teams return to the pool next Saturday when Regis hosts Gordon College in a dual meet.
