Louisville Sweeps Cincinnati

The No. 9-ranked University of Louisville men’s and women’s swimming and diving team sweep visiting Cincinnati Saturday morning in the Ralph Wright Natatorium.  The men won 210-87 and the women won 204-94.

“The ultimate goal  is to make progress. We had so many individuals swimming slightly different races that they don’t swim all the time and that was the challenge to the group … to make sure we keep component training and make the little things work,” said UofL head coach Arthur Albiero.  “I feel like overall we did a pretty good job.  We saw some progress, and the challenge was to go faster in some spots than we have done at any point up to this season.  I think we achieved a lot of that today, so it’s a good meet for us.  It’s good to be home after being on the road, and now we get ready for a big challenge coming up this coming weekend.”

The Cards host North Carolina next Friday and Saturday at the Ralph Wright Natatorium in the first official ACC dual meet.

“Well I think we’ll try to continue to see where we are, and continue to make adjustments and refine our lineup,” said Albiero. “There is a little bit of strategy involved, just because of a meet like that.  It’s a two-day meet; it’s a little bit different meet.  You swim three events each day, so there’s some limits on relays.  So we have to make a really good assessment on where we’re going to be putting our pieces of the puzzle.  But it’s an exciting time, it’s an exciting opportunity for us to swim our first ACC competition.  We’re appreciative of North Carolina, and we’re looking forward to matching up with them.”
