American Short Course Recaps - Day 3

SMU Men

Senior Mitchell Towne led the Mustang swimmers on the final day of the American Short Course Championships as he placed 20th and clocked a time of 16:18.47 in the 1,650-yard freestyle. SMU notched two first place finishes at the Championships with those coming in the 200-yard medley relay and the 400-yard medley relay. The three-day meet was held in Austin, Texas.

In addition, Towne finished 35th in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:44.15.

In the 50-yard freestyle, seniors Ramom Melo and Ryan Koops placed fifth and 11th with times of 20.35 and 20.47, respectively, while junior Pablo Lara Carrillo placed 44th in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:04.86.

The NCAA Zone D Qualifications are next up for the Mustangs as the SMU divers are competing in the three-day meet beginning on Monday. Following that event, qualifying swimmers and divers will compete at the NCAA Championships which take place from March 27-29 in Austin, Texas.
