USC Men Add Three

European standouts Pawel Furtek from Wroclaw, Poland, and Ralf Tribunstov from Rakvere, Estonia, as well as Jon Knox from Sebastopol, Calif., have signed National Letters of Intent, USC swimming coach Dave Salo announced today.

Furtek has emerged as one of Europe’s top distance swimmers and will represent Poland at the 2015 European Championships. The Polish swimmer won gold in the 800m free and silver in the 1500m free at the 2013 European Junior Swimming Championships. He competed in both at the 2013 World Championships, finishing 14th in the 1500m free and 21st in the 800m free. He was third in the 1500m free at the 2013 World Juniors.

Tribunstov, an Estonian national teamer, was a finalist at the 2013 European Short Course Championships, finishing eighth in the 100m back. He was a two-time semifinalist in the 50m and 100m free at the 2012 European Short Course meet. He owns Estonian records in the 50m and 100m back.

Knox, who preps at Analy in Sebastopol, Calif., won a CIF North Coast Section title in the 100y back as a senior and was second in the 200y free. An All-Empire first team performer and a CIF finalist in the 100y back and 200y free as a junior, he was the Santa Rosa Press-Democrat 2013 All-Empire Boys Swimmer of the Year.
