Manchester University Director of Athletics Rick Espeset has announced Mike Kroll as the head coach of the Manchester University men’s and women’s swimming programs.
“We’re very pleased to have Mike on board to assist the Spartans’ athletic department in this new venture,” Espeset said. “His background in the sport speaks for itself and will play a key role in developing and guiding our program. (Mike) has tremendous energy and enthusiasm and will be a wonderful addition to our staff.”
Kroll, previously an assistant coach and aquatics director at Ohio Wesleyan University since October of 2011, has been around the sport of swimming throughout his undergraduate, post-graduate and coaching careers. He’s held titles as parks and recreation swim club director in Washington, D.C. (Jan. 2006-Aug. 2007); counselor at the California University of Pennsylvania, the University of Tennessee and the United States Military Academy at West Point swim camps (varying dates from June 2008 – July 2013); assistant coach at SUNY-Brockport (Aug. 2007-Sept. 2009) and head coach at Genesee Community College (Nov. 2009- Oct. 2011). He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from SUNY-Brockport in May 2006.
“I’m extremely pleased to accept (the position),” Kroll said. “I feel this is an exciting time for MU to have a program … I see the future being very bright for swimming (at the university).”
“It is a historical moment,” he added in looking at what lies ahead. “It’s a unique opportunity for myself and the student-athletes, as we look forward to getting (the program)to its full potential.”
Manchester University is scheduled to begin competition in NCAA Division III during the 2015-16 academic year.
