Florida International Adds Two

FIU swimming and diving head coach Randy Horner has announced the addition of two swimmers to the 2014-15 squad. Valerie Inghels and Kyna Pereira will join the Panthers this fall. Inghels is a transfer from Auburn, while Pereira is an incoming freshman from South Africa.
 
"Valerie and Kyna both come in as swimmers that will help build our team,” said Horner. “They won't only make an impact in C-USA, but at the NCAA level for FIU."

Sophomore Season at Auburn (2013-14): Finished her career at Auburn with a top 10 program time in the 200 Fly, earning a mark of 1:58.21 at the SEC Championships (2/21)…Time was also an NCAA ‘B’ cut time…Swam in the 500 Free, 100 Fly and 200 Fly during the season…Earned a NCAA ‘B’ cut time of 53.89 in the 100 Fly at the SEC Championships (2/20), the seventh best time of the year for an Auburn swimmer.

Freshman Season at Auburn (2012-13): Claimed two NCAA 'B' cut times in the 100 and 200 Fly during her freshman season at Auburn...Clocked a 53.88 in the 100 fly to earn  a 'B' cut time at the Bulldog Last Chance, placing fourth overall and having the fourth-fastest Auburn time in that event for the year...At the same meet, won the 200 Fly event with a 'B' cut time of 1:57.95, a season-best and second-fastest on the team...Her 200 Fly time is also the eighth-fastest in Auburn history.

Prior to FIU: One of the fastest distance freestylers in all of South Africa…Top times include 2:04.16 in the 200 M Free, 4:18.41 in the 400 M Free and 8:54.10 in the 800 M Free…In the backstroke events, top times include 1:05.38 in the 100 M, and 2:17.31 in the 200 M…Served as a team captain for her high school team…Member of the South African Senior Swimming team that participated at the Senior African Championships in Kenya (2012), Senior World Course Championships in Istanbul Turkey (2012), BHP

Billiton in Western Australia (2013, 2014) and the World Swimming Championships in Barcelona, Spain (2013)….Member of the South African Open water team participating in the World Open water Championships.
