Heger Shines For Wisconsin-Milwaukee at Illinois-Chicago Diving Invite

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee diving team continued its outstanding season with more top marks Saturday afternoon at the UIC Diving Invitational at the Flames Natatorium.

Junior K.J. Heger continued to lead the way for the Panthers, taking first on both men's boards for the sixth time this season.

Heger nearly broke his own school record on the three-meter board with an outstanding score of 371.80, 76 points ahead of second place and just over seven points shy of the school record he set earlier this season. Andres Villa made his season debut a good one, taking third with an impressive opening score of 287.20.

On one-meter, it was much of the same for the Panthers. Heger again cruised to victory with a mark of 321.25 for first, while Villa was again right behind at 258.70 for fourth.

Rachel Margis was Milwaukee's lone diver on the women's side and she, too, had quite the day in the pool.

The sophomore just missed a season-best score, receiving a mark of 268.40 on one-meter for third place, just over two points shy of a runner-up finish. On the three-meter board, Margis again took third, this time posting a score of 276.75.

UWM posted a combined five top-three finishes at the meet, the most of any university on hand.

Milwaukee returns to the pool this Friday when the men's team hosts Northwestern. The meet is set to get underway from the Klotsche Natatorium at 5 p.m.
