Fresno State Falls to UC-Bakersfield

The Fresno State swimming and diving team entered Saturday’s dual meet against Bakersfield as winners of four straight meets. That streak came to an end as the Roadrunners pulled away for a 143.5-120.5 win over the Bulldogs at the Aquatics Center.

“I was a little disappointed today,” Fresno State head coach Jeanne Fleck said. “I don’t think we were ready to race.”

Bakersfield won 10 of the 16 events from the Bulldogs on their win the dual win. The Roadrunners had been coming off a loss to Mountain West Conference member San José State on Friday afternoon.

Hailee Baldwin and Hannah Prigge provided the highlight of the day for Fresno State. The duo each won multiple events. Baldwin, a freshman from Turlock, won the 100 and 200 Breaststroke events. She also was a part of the winning 200 Medley Relay team. Prigge, a senior from Rocklin, won both the 1 Meter and 3 Meter Diving events. She scored 324.20 in the 1 Meter and then a 317.78 in the 3 Meter.

“It was our first week back from winter training so I was really excited to get back into the pool for a competition,” Prigge said. “Today felt like a really good meet for me.”

The team will be back in action next weekend. Divers will head to Los Angeles for the UCLA Diving Invitational January 10-12 and the swimmers will head north to Davis for a dual meet with the Aggies of UC Davis on Saturday, January 11 at 12 p.m.
