Denver Out In Front at Summit League Meets

The 2014 Summit League Swimming and Diving Championships began Wednesday night at the IU Natatorium, as the seven women’s and six men’s league teams competed in two relay events.  Preseason favorites, the Denver men’s and women’s teams, are atop of the standings at the conclusion of day one.

The Pioneer women set a pair of championship meet records to highlight day one.  In the first event of the championship, the 200 IM relay squad of Johanna Roas, Amanda Sanders, Sam Corea  and Drew Matthews took first place in a league-record time of 1:39.54.  Bridgette McNally, Kacie Vanbuskirk, Clara Jenck and  Morgan Mullenix then teamed up to set a league record in the 800 free relay with a winning time of 7:20.02.

On the men’s side, Denver won both the 200 IM relay and 800 free relay.

News & Notes

The Denver women’s team set a pair of Summit League Championship records.  The 200 IM relay team (J. Roas, A. Sanders, S. Corea, D. Matthews) won with a time of 1:39.54, while the 800 free relay squad (B. McNally, K. Vanbuskirk, C. Jenck, M. Mullenix) took first in 7:20.02.
