Westminster Sweeps Mount Union

The Westminster College men's and women's swimming and diving teams swept Mount Union in non-conference action on the road on Saturday. The Titan men won 167.5-130.5, while the Titan women won 166-128.

The Titan men improved to 9-2 overall, while the Titan women advanced to 9-3. Both Mount Union teams dropped to 8-4 on the season.

The Titan men won 12 events, while the women placed first in 11 events.

Titan junior Jake Pletz (Venetia, PA / Peters Township) led the men's team with three individual wins. Pletz won the 200 freestyle (1:45.94), the 100 freestyle (48.83), and the 100 butterfly (53.21). Sophomore Mark Zalakar (Glenshaw, PA / Shaler Area) swept the diving events as he won the 1-meter (148.15) and the 3-meter (184.65).

Westminster sophomore Kelsey Reott (Butler, PA / Slippery Rock) paced the women's team with three individual wins and was also part of a winning relay team. Reott won the 200 freestyle (2:01.62), the 200 IM (2:17.48), and the 200 backstroke (2:13.36). Reott teamed up with juniors Marina Rozick (Pittsburgh, PA / North Allegheny) and Samantha Tower (Export, PA / Franklin Regional) and senior Amanda Marlow (Twinsburg, OH / Twinsburg) for a first-place time of 4:10.26 in the 400 medley relay.

The Titans next compete in the 2014 PAC Championships starting on Feb. 12 at Grove City.
