Tiger Pair Take Silver at LSU Diving Invite

Freshman Madison Sthamann and senior Daniel Helm both finished second on platform to wrap up the LSU Diving Invitational. Sthamann finished with a final score of 257.50 and Helm finished with a final score of 375.80.

“I’m very happy with the results from the LSU Invite,” LSU Diving Coach Doug Shaffer said. “We had some very solid performances, and I’m excited where we are at this point.”

Allie Alter and Katie Lagarde also competed on platform for the first time this season, the pair sat out of competition at the Art Adamson Invitational. Alter finished third with a score of 209.35 and Lagarde finished seventh with a score of 150.10.

Andrew Suchla finished in third place, behind Helm, on the men’s side with a score of 284.

At the USA Diving Winter Championships, Cassie Weil punched a ticket to the final of 10M, which will be held on Saturday at 12:45. Weil finished 10th overall with a score of 578. Alex Bettridge also finished 18th overall with a score of 457.90.

“Alex has been performing very well in her first USA national competition as she finished 18th overall,” Shaffer added. “They both dove very well today and they were competitive.”

Bettridge and Weil will compete in the quarterfinal and semifinal of three-meter beginning tomorrow at 9 a.m.
