MARGAUX VERGER GOURSON OF PACIFIC
MPSF/TURBO FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Pacific sophomore Margaux Verger Gourson (Clermont-Ferrand, France) took down her own 500 free school record on the first day of the UNLV Invitational last Saturday, finishing in 4.43.07, shaving over four seconds off her previous standard. She stayed perfect in the event through her career in winning another title. Verger Gourson came back on day two to win her second event, taking the 200 free (1.48.46), and yet again on day three for the 1650 victory (NCAA ‘B’ cut/14th in NCAA, 16.09.06). The 1650 swim was Verger Gourson’s second school record in the invitational, beating the eight year old standard by over 15 seconds, swimming roughly 45 seconds ahead of the second-place finisher. She went 9.47 in the 1000, a third Tiger record.
