Grinnell Invite Recaps - Day 1

The Loras College swimming and diving teams competed at the Grinnell Invitational on Friday night and posted impressive performances on both fronts. Two school records fell on the night as the women finished in second place with 182 team points and the men finished in fifth place with 132 points.

The women were paced by senior Lexie Mollahan, who took home a win for the Duhawks in the 200 yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:14.11. She split a 31.58 in her last leg. This time was the fastest leg in the field on the night and pushed her to the win.

Mollahan was also part of the women's medley relay team that broke the school record with a time of 4:06.31. Joining the Eugene, Oregon native on the relay was senior Mary Kathryn Maher, senior Clare Ehlbeck, and freshman Kim Breaux. Their time broke the previous record set last season that had a mark of 4:07.38. Three of the four members of this year's relay team were a part of that record setting performance.

In the men's field, sophomore Ike Casey continued his rampant start to the 2014-15 season winning the 50 Free with a time of 21.22. The previous record, set by Drew Sodey in 2006, was 21.34.
Head coach Doug Colin beamed with excitement at his team's performance in the competitive field.

"I am thrilled with tonight's swim! Looking forward to tomorrow!"

The Duhawks return to the pool on Saturday for day two of the Pioneer Classic. First events kickoff at 10 a.m.
