The VMI swimming and diving programs announced their 2014-15 schedules late Sunday night, as the information was released by head coach Bill Nicholson. Fans will be able to see the Keydets in a pair of home meets, both stationed on a single weekend in January, including one tri-meet that will include the Generals of Washington & Lee.
The season opens on Oct. 18 with a two-day meet in Baltimore, Md., as UMBC hosts the Keydets and Gardner-Webb on the women’s side. NJIT will also be involved in the event, competing with the aforementioned three schools on the men’s side of the meet.
The following weekend, both Keydet programs face American University on the road and then travel to Baltimore once again, this time for a tri-meet with Loyola (Md.) and Howard on Nov. 8. That event ends the fall season and gives the Keydets more than two months away from competition. The VMI women’s team then plays host to North Carolina A&T at Clark King Pool on Jan. 23, and both programs are involved in a tri-meet with Ferrum and Washington & Lee the following day, also at the Keydets’ home pool.
That closes out the duel portion of the season and takes VMI into the Virginia Tech Challenge, contested Feb. 7-8, and the Coastal Collegiate Swimming Association Championships, which will be held Feb. 18-21 in Athens, Ga.
