Assumption College Welcomes 12

Assumption College women's swimming and diving is proud to announce the addition of 12 student-athletes to the fall 2014 roster. The Assumption swimming and diving program turned in its best season in program history in 2013-14 and enters this season coming off of its first Northeast-10 Conference Championship.

"Last year we had our largest graduating senior class, so the addition of these 10 swimmers and two divers with such great depth and diversity will keep us moving forward!" head coach Stuart Cromarty said. Here's a sneak peak at the incoming student-athletes:

COURTNEY BARR - Waltham, Mass. - 100 Free, 200 Free, Back and IM Barr comes to Assumption from Waltham, Mass. A four-year CCL All-Star while at Matignon High School, Barr was also named CCL Swimmer of the Year as a senior. She owns all eight individual records at Matignon High and also wrapped up her career with three relay records. In addition to her school records, Barr also notched two CCL records, the 100 freestyle and 100 backstroke. "In a sport where too many athletes are burned out before even reaching the college level, Courtney is posting the times of a veteran swimmer while still possessing the hungry drive of an age grouper." - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

MOLLY DILLON - Pembroke, Mass. - 100 Free, 200 Free, Back, Fly and IM Dillon comes to assumption from Pembroke, Mass. where she competed for Pembroke High School. She notched Conference All-Star honors while at Pembroke and also competed for Bluefish Swim Club. While a member of Bluefish, Dillon was a multiple-time winner of southern sectionals and seniors. "Molly is a versatile swimmer that can swim all strokes very well and will make an immediate impact on our program." - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

KRISTEN FOLAN - Norwood, Mass. - Dive Folan hails from Norwood, Mass. where she dove for Norwood Senior High School. While at Norwood, Folan broke her high school record and then surpassed it three more times during her senior year. Her final record at Norwood Senior High is listed as 247.50 for six dives. "Kristen finished seventh in the fall MIAA and we are excited to bring her on 'board' to bring added depth to our diving program." - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty.

NIAMH MORGAN - Meath, Ireland - Sprint Free, Back, 200 IM, 400 IM and Breaststroke Morgan comes to Assumption from Meath, Ireland where she attended Sacred Heart School. While in high school, Morgan also competed for the Cormorant Swimming Club/Aer Lingus Swim Team. "Niamh is our first international student in the history of the program and brings some serious speed and talent to our program. Her personality, goals and talent were immediately recognized as huge assets to the Greyhound program." - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

VERONICA MACK - Nashua, N.H. - Dive Mack comes to Assumption from Nashua, N.H. where she competed on the dive team at Bishop Guertin High School. Mack also competed for the Charles River Diving and Infinite Diving teams. During her high school career, Mack finished second in state competition twice while also qualifying for the Meet of Champions. "Veronica finished second in the New Hampshire High School State Championships, she will immediately make an impact and will be a great asset to our diving program." - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

ALEXANDRA "BELLA" OMOBONO - Chelmsford, Mass. - 100-1000 Free, Fly and IM Omobono hails from Chelmsford, Mass. where she attended Chelmsford High School. While at Chelmsford High, Omobono helped lead her team to the State Championship in 2013 and was also named All-Conference for her efforts. "Bella had a very successful senior year and we are excited to have her swimming for us. Bella is very versatile and can be added anywhere in our lineup!" - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

EMILY TOMANELLI - Mansfield, Conn. - Breaststroke, IM and Sprint Free Tomanelli comes to Assumption from Mansfield, Conn. where she competed for E. O. Smith High School and UAC. Tomanelli was named All-Conference and All-State while at E. O. Smith and was also an All-Conference honoree in rowing. "Emily is another great addition to our breaststroke group and can contribute in IM and sprint events as well. We are very excited to see how Emily develops this upcoming season!" - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

AERIN TOSKAS - Douglaston, N.Y. - Back and IM Toskas comes to Assumption from Douglaston, N.Y. where she competed for Archbishop Molloy High School and the Cross Island YMCA Barracudas. She helped lead her teams to championship titles from 2008-2014. "Aerin will be a great addition to our backstroke group and we are very excited to get her in the water!" - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

BRYANNA "BRY" VERONEAU - Belchertown, Mass. - Sprint Free to 500, Breaststroke, Fly and IM Veroneau comes to Assumption from Belchertown, Mass. where she competed for Belchertown High School, Holyoke YMCA and Vikings Swim Team. She was named All-Western Mass. in 2011, 2013 and 2014 and earned All-League honors all four years at Belchertown High. A three-time captain of her high school swim team, she also claimed the Western Mass. Championship in the 100 freestyle event. "Bry has great talent and can swim almost any event. This will undoubtedly make a huge impact on the versatility of our lineup!" - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

CARYLYN WAITE - Tampa, Fla. - Sprint Free to 500, Breaststroke, Fly and IM Waite comes to Assumption from Tampa, Fla. where she swam for Tampa Prep, Tampa Bay Aquatics Club and New York Aquatics Club. Ranked 68th in the Florida recruiting charts, Waite completed her high school career with All-District, All-Region and All-State accolades. She also holds the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle records at Tampa Prep. "Carylyn is a powerful sprint addition to the program and has great potential in the breaststroke, butterfly and 200 IM events." - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

ALEXIS WILUSZ - Hampton, N.H. - Fly and Free Wilusz comes to Assumption from Hampton, N.H. She competed for Winnacunnet High School in Nashua, as well as Exeter Swim Team where she helped her squad to championships from 2008-2012. "Alexis has tremendous potential! We expect her to compete mainly at the short to mid-distance free events, as well as the 100 and 200 fly." - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty

ALLIE WUERFL - Wayland, Mass. - Sprint to 500 Free Wuerfl hails from Wayland, Mass. where she swam for Wayland High School, helping her team to three state championships. She also helped her Wayland High squad to two national titles. "Allie is excited to be swimming for a college team and we look forward to watching her shine!" - Head Coach Stuart Cromarty These new Greyhounds are slated to make an immediate impact on the reigning NE-10 champion squad as it heads into the 2014-15 season.
