Georgia's Ryan Selected for AT&T Olympic Performance Squad

Senior diver Laura Ryan has been selected by USA Diving for the AT&T Olympic Performance Squad for 2014. Ryan is one of 25 male and female divers who exhibit the most skill and determination needed to become 2016 Olympic Team members.

The Olympic Performance Squad has been a channel into the Olympic Team in previous years. All 11 members of the U.S. Olympic Team for diving at the 2012 Olympic Games were members of the Olympic Performance Squad in the preceding years. A maximum of 16 divers will compete for Team USA at the 2016 Olympics.

USA Diving selected individuals that competed at the 2013 FINA World Championships, are members of the 2014 FINA World Cup Team or were identified by High Performance Director Steve Foley as divers that could shape the 2016 team. Ryan has qualified for the 2014 FINA World Cup Team.

Ryan is one of three divers selected from Southeastern Conference schools. Victoria Lamp from Tennessee and Aaron Fleshner from Alabama, both seniors, have also been chosen for the Olympic Performance Squad.

Ryan, the 2014 NCAA Champion on both the 1-meter and 3-meter springboards, will next compete on Friday, April 11 in the World Cup Synchronized Diving Trials. Ryan is entered in the synchronized 3-meter, with prelims set for 10 a.m. and finals at 4 p.m.
