The Stanford women’s swimming and diving team won nine of the first 10 events to dominate Oregon State, 170-88, Friday afternoon in its first road contest of the 2013-14 season. Felicia Lee won three individual events and Katie Olsen swept the 100 and 200 breaststrokes to help the Cardinal to its third straight dual win.
Stanford (3-0, 2-0 Pac-12) kicked off the event in winning fashion by taking the top three spots in the 4x50-yard medley relay, before the Beavers’ Sammy Harrison won the 1,000-yard free. The Cardinal responded with eight straight victories to secure the meet and used the final swims primarily as exhibitions.
Lee was quickest in the 200 butterfly (1:58.89) and 100 free (49.95) during the deciding stretch and also added a first-place showing in the 200 IM (2:01.61) later in the meet. Olsen edged teammate Sarah Haase in the 100 breaststroke, 1:03.00 to 1:03.38, and clipped Maya DiRado, 2:17.48 to 2:19.10, in the 200. DiRado, however, did win the 200 free in 1:47.64 earlier in the meet.
Annemarie Thayer (100 back, 55.89), Julia Ama (50 free, 23.57), Tara Halsted (200 back, 2:00.56) and Mackenzie Stein (100 fly, 55.92) also clocked first-place times for Stanford.
Harrison, a sophomore who already holds three Oregon State program records, snapped the Stanford event winning streak by taking first in the 1,650 free. She was the only Beavers swimmer to win an individual event.
Stanford’s divers have still yet to appear in a meet, as Oregon State’s roster consists of only swimmers.
The Cardinal is off to a 3-0 start for the first time since 2010-11.
Stanford returns to The Farm Nov. 2 for a dual meet against Wisconsin. The Saturday non-conference matchup, which is The Cardinal’s last dual of the fall, is slated for 11 a.m. at Avery Aquatic Center.
