Harold Anderson Invite Recaps

Bryant Men


Junior Graham Beck (Danvers, Mass.) and sophomore Conor Makepeace (Wallingford, Conn.) each took home first-place finishes as the Bryant University men's swimming and diving team competed in the Harold Anderson Invitational hosted by Rhode Island over the weekend.

Competing against URI, Maine, Assumption, Holy Cross and Providence, Beck and Makepeace were able to win an event. Beck won the 100 breast with a time a season-best time of 58.83. Makepeace won his second diving event of the year, claiming the 1 meter. He accumulated a total of 241.20 points to take home the title. Makepeace added a third-place finish in the 3 meter with a total of 202.35 points.

The Bulldogs also got an outstanding performance from sophomore Kevin Hong (Bridgewater, N.J.). The second-year swimmer finished fourth in the 100 (1:00.46) and 200 (2:00.37) back and earned a fifth-place finish in the 400 IM (4:21.09). Freshman Pierre Le Guyader (East Islip, N.Y.) finished sixth in the 50 free with a time of 22.51.

Bryant will have the week off before returning to action on Saturday, Dec. 7 when it travels back to Kingston, R.I., to face the Rams in a dual meet.


Bryant Women

Sophomore Jamie Schaefer (Durham, N.C.) won the 200 fly and freshman Erin Daly (Reading, Mass.) earned three top-five finishes to highlight the Bryant University women's swimming and diving team's weekend at the Harold Anderson Invitational hosted by Rhode Island.

The Bulldogs were competing against Assumption, Holy Cross, URI, Providence and Maine. Schaefer grabbed Bryant's only first-place finish of the weekend, winning the 200 fly with a time of 2:07.32. Daly put together an all-around great meet, finishing third in the 1000 free (10:48.84), fourth in the 100 back (1:00.46) and fifth in the 500 free (5:09.54). All three times were season-bests.

Bryant also received outstanding performances from sophomore Lauren Doerrman (Oley, Pa.) and freshmen Taylor Poliseno (Stevenson Ranch, Calif.) and Meghan Claflin (Newburyport, Mass.). Doerrman finished fourth in the 400 IM with a time of 4:41.85, Poliseno finished third in the 100 fly (58.63) and Claflin earned a third-place finish in the 200 free (1:55.67).

The Black and Gold return to the pool on Saturday, Dec. 7 when they travel back to Kingston, R.I., to face the Rams in a dual meet.
