Saint Francis University (that's the one in Pennsylvania, not New York) is looking for a new head coach. Director of Athletics (and former Penn State Women's Coach) Bob Krimmel announced the resignation of head swimming coach Patrick Gallagher on Tuesday morning. Gallagher's last day at SFU will be May 24.
“Pat Gallagher has been a tremendous asset to our Red Flash Athletics
Program and Saint Francis University,” Krimmel said. “We wish Pat and
Meg the very best in the next chapter of their lives and will be forever
grateful for the impact they had as a coach, husband and wife, on the
student athletes in our swimming program.”
“In addition to building a championship women's swimming program, Pat's
work in developing our total aquatics program that serves our campus and
the community, is something that will be a lasting legacy of his at
Saint Francis,” Krimmel continued.
Gallagher brought unprecedented success to the Red Flash swimming
program over his 10-year tenure as evidenced by his teams' four
consecutive Northeast Conference Championship (2009-13). The 2010 NEC
Coach of the Year, Gallagher leaves Saint Francis as the program's
all-time winningest head coach with 59 career victories.
“This university and department has been so special to me over the years
and I am truly fortunate to have served as the head swimming coach,”
said Gallagher. “I would like to thank Bob Krimmel
for his leadership, guidance and friendship throughout the years and
the entire university administration for this opportunity.”
“My wife and I have been so blessed to be members of the university
community. We have met a lot of great friends and will always this to
be a special place.”
Assistant coach Jacqueline Michalski
will assume responsibility for the day-to-day activities of the
program. A search for the next head coach will begin immediately.
