Dartmouth Adds 14

Fresh off a pair of top-five finishes at the Ivy League championships, the Dartmouth swimming and diving programs have announced the addition of 14 members to the program. The class features student-athletes from across the United States and three internationals. On the women’s side, Dartmouth will welcome five student-athletes while nine men will join the men’s squad.

Maddie Dunn (Greenwich, Conn.) was a three-time member of the Connecticut State Championship team at Greenwich high school and is the school record holder in the 50-yard freestyle. A senior captain, she also earned Scholastic All-America honors. She will participate in the sprint free and breaststroke events at Dartmouth.

Hallie Huffaker (Seattle, Wash), a National Merit finalist, competed at the Washington High School state meet as a member of two relays as a senior.  Huffaker will swim distance free events for the Big Green.  

Heather Laedtke (Edina, Minn.) was the captain of the Edina high school girl’s swimming and diving team.  Laedtke is a six-time high school letterwinner and ten- time All American. She has also earned Scholastic All-America and Edina high school Scholar-Athlete honors. Laedtke will swim the breaststroke events.

Christiana Salvatori (Baltimore, Md.) is a National Merit Scholarship finalist and a USA Swimming Scholastic All American. She will participate in the mid-distance freestyle events at Dartmouth.

Amy Sun (West Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) is a Senior National qualifier who placed eighteenth in the Canadian Olympic Trials in 2012. Sun is a member of the British Columbia team that will compete at the Canada Games this summer. She will compete in the sprint and mid-distance freestyle events.

Dorian Allen (Maplewood, N.J.) was the boy’s prep school champion in the 500 freestyle and was a member of the first-team all state 400 free relay for the Pingry School as a senior. Allen was a Cum Laude inductee, recipient of the Yale Book Award and president of the Buttondowns, Pingry Prep School’s all male A Cappella group.

Taylor Clough (Weston, Mass.) is a four-year New England Prep School diving champion at Deerfield School. Clough has also been a competitor on the national level for USA Diving for seven years.

David Harmon (Severna Park, Md.) claimed the national championship in the 100-yard butterfly at the Catholic championships during his senior year. Harmon was a team captain and four-year letterwinner at Archbishop Spaulding high school.  He is a five-time individual finalist at the YMCA National Championship and has qualified for Junior Nationals. Harmon will swim the distance freestyle and butterfly events.

Jack Long (Bayonne, N.J.) was the senior captain of the Bayonne swim team. A third-team All-Public School selection, Long was a National Hispanic Merit Scholar. Long will swim distance and mid-distance freestyle events.

Tate Ramsden (Nashville, Tenn.) comes to Dartmouth as a Junior National qualifier, as well as six-time All American and three-time Academic All American.  Ramsden is a member of the Cum Laude Society and finished fifth in the 100 butterfly at the Tennessee state meet this year. He will swim sprint and mid-distance freestyle events at Dartmouth.

Jorge Siwady (San Pedro Sula, Honduras) has competed at the international level at the World Junior Championship games in Peru and is an active member of the Honduras National Team.  Siwady is also a member of the National Honor Society. He will swim mid-distance and distance freestyle events.

 James Thompson (Tracy, Calif.) was the team captain of the Pleasanton Seahawks, as well as the team captain of his Tracy high school swim team.  The Tracy high school MVP and Scholar Athlete, holds school records in the 50, 100, 200 and 500-yard freestyle events.  Thompson is also a USA Swimming Scholastic All American and will swim the sprint and mid-distance freestyle events.

Timo Vaimann (Parnu, Estonia) is a former national champion in the 200 breaststroke, and finished eleventh at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore.  Vaimann has also competed at the European Junior Championships and the Nordic Junior Championships. He will compete in the breaststroke events for the Big Green.

Patrick Kang (Calabasas, Calif.) and Phillip Dytko (Swampscott, Mass.) will also be joining the Dartmouth squad next season. King will swim the breaststroke events at Dartmouth while Dytko will swim butterfly and sprint freestyle.
