2012-13 College Swimming & Diving Honors Announced

The 2012-13 College Swimming & Diving Honors have been announced. In all, eighteen athletes, teams or coaches are being recognized for their outstanding performances during the 2012-13 collegiate swimming and diving season. 

The University of Michigan (Big 10) leads the way with four honors and two honorable mentions. Tennessee University (SEC) also received four honors in addition to one honorable mention. Johns Hopkins University (Centennial Conference) earned two honors plus another seven honorable mentions. 

The open nomination process for the 2012-13 season concluded on April 30th, 2013. Coaches, athletes and sport administrators submitted nominees for a sample of categories including Career Improvement, Break-Out Athlete, BreakOut Team and Most Exciting Dual Meet. 

In all, hundreds of athletes and/or teams from over 100 institutions were nominated for their achievements. 

Nominations were then organized into a survey. The opportunity to cast a vote from within the list of nominees opened on April 30th and ran through late May. The survey is used as a guide to determine the College Swimming & Diving Honors. 

A publication titled Pro?les in Excellence: 2012-13 College Swimming & Diving Honors is currently available in virtual format. A print version of Profiles in Excellence is available upon request (available late June 2013.) Several aquatic professionals provided the writing for the honorees including Casey Barrett (www.capandgoggles.com), Damion Dennis (West Virginia University,) Josh Huger (www.swimutopia.com), Mike Litzinger (North Carolina) and more. Tim Binning (www.theswimpictures.com) provides much of the photography. New in 2013 is the addition of current student-athlete writers which included Syd Lindblom & Rachel Flynn (both from Kenyon), Erin Fuss (Nevada), and Alyssa Swanson (Denison.)
