Simpson Assistant Elevated

Former assistant coach Eric Crawford will take over the duties of interim head swimming coach at Simpson College, director of athletics John Sirianni announced Wednesday.

Having joined the Simpson staff as an assistant in 2011, Crawford takes over for Aaron Strain, who resigned in August.

Crawford will coach both the men's and women's teams. Last season, he helped the Storm set seven school records at the Liberal Arts Championships to close the season.

A 2008 graduate of Luther College, Crawford was a three-time honorable mention All-American and participated in the 2008 NCAA Division III National Championships. While swimming for the Norse, he helped set school records in the 200 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay.

Crawford has also coached for the Altoona Swim Club and Des Moines Lincoln High School. He did his prep swimming at Lincoln, where he still holds the school record in the 100 butterfly.
