Hartmann Signs With Marshall

Leslie Hartmann has signed a National Letter of Intent to swim at Marshall, head swimming and diving coach Bill Tramel announced Tuesday.

Hartmann, who also goes by the name Teel, is the third and final signee during the early signing period for Tramel. She is joined by Brianne Mury and Mikaya Reynolds. All three will join the Thundering Herd for the 2013-14 season.

"We are thrilled to have Teel joining us next fall," Tramel said. "Teel will be the third Lakeside swimmer I will coach in my career. (Head Coach) Mike DeBoer does an exceptional job at Lakeside.  Their team produced their 10th Olympian this past summer."

From Louisville, Ky, Hartmann attends Ballard High School and swims for the Lakeside Seahawks Swim Team and head coach Mike DeBoer.

Hartmann's top times come in four different events. She specializes in the individual medley and her 200-yard best time is 2:07.50 while in the 400 she has posted a time of 4:24.66. Her other two top times come in the 200 breaststroke with a mark of 2:25.42 and the 500 freestyle with a best finish of 5:03.76.

"Lakeside is known for having dedicated athletes who understand what it takes to reach their full potential.  That is why we targeted Teel," Tramel said about Hartmann. "She already has, as a junior in high school, times which would score in multiple events at Conference USA.  Her 400 IM would have placed her in the finals last year. We look forward to continuing her development as an athlete while she studies at a great university here at Marshall."
