Nearly a decade ago the University of Iowa were left reeling by a recruiting scandal. That appears to be old news, however as the Hawkeyes introduced twenty new signees. The class comes on the heels of a breakthrough season for the Hawkeyes who have been building since long before the construction of the new CWRC.

Men's Signees Jackson Allen, a native of Monona, Wis., was an All-American and state champion in multiple events at Monona High School. He was also a team MVP and team captain. Allen is coached by Kelly Huson and Matt Pircon (HS) and Shane Ryan and Michael Rudie (USS) at Madison East YMCA. 50 Freestyle: 20.99 100 Freestyle: 46.17 200 Freestyle: 1:41.67 100 Butterfly: 50.34 Matt Boyd, a native of Clinton, Iowa, is a two-time Iowa state champion, team captain, All-American and Junior National qualifier out of Clinton High School. He is a member of the National Honor Society and is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. Boyd, who also lettered in cross country and track and field in high school, is coached by Tony Hunter, Albert Hayton (HS) and Ross Burns, Steve Erling (USS) at River City Aquatics. 100 Backstroke: 51.06 200 Backstroke: 1:53.19 100 Breaststroke: 58.96 200 IM: 1:53.50 David Ernstsson, a native of Stockholm, Sweden, who attends Kartorps Gymnasium, is a Swedish youth champion and a Swedish Olympic trial qualifier. He swims for Stockholm Polisens SIM IF and is coached by Sven Rowe Malmberg. 50 Freestyle SCM: 22.66, (20.30 SCY Converted) 100 Freestyle SCM: 48.91, (43.82 SCY Converted) 200 Freestyle SCM: 1:48.19, (1:36.94 SCY Converted) 100 Butterfly SCM: 54.58, (48.90 SCY Converted) Maverick Hovey, a native of Eden Prairie, Minn., was a state champion in the 100 butterfly and the 200 and 400 freestyle relays at Eden Prairie High School. He is an All-American and Junior National qualifier. Hovey, a member of the National Honor Society and a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, is coached by Kelly Boston (HS) and Kate Lundsten at Aquajets Swim Team. 200 Freestyle: 1:40.97 100 Butterfly: 49.52 Charles Holliday, a native of Rock Island, Ill., attends Rock Island High School, where he is the sectional record holder in the 50 freestyle. He is also all-state and an All-American in the 50 freestyle. Last season he was a member of the IHSA Scholastic team. Holliday, who was a member of the 2012 IHSA Scholastic team, is coached by Grant Bramer at Rock Island High School and Demian Warner at Lane 4 Aquatics. 50 Freestyle 21.04 100 Freestyle 47.04 Seth Lane, a native of Waupaca, Wis., was the 2010 Wisconsin long course state champion in the 50 free and 100 back at Waupaco High School. Lane is a member of the Spanish National Honor Society and is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. He is coached by Fox Valley Wave head coach Curt Beutler. 50 Free: 20.95 100 Back: 51.89 Mike Nelson, a native of Tempe, Ariz., attends Brophy College Preparatory, where he is two-time state individual champion, four-time state team champion and an All-American. Nelson is an Olympic Trial qualifier in the 100 breaststroke, a member of the National Honor Society and is a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American. Nelson is coached by Pat O’Neill (HS) and Coley Stickels (USS) at the Phoenix Swim Club. 100 Breaststroke: 56.73, 1:04.28 LCM 200 Breaststroke: 2:05.41 Tyler Nichols, a native of Marshall, Mo., is the Missouri state champion in the 100 breaststroke out of Marshall High School. He is a national qualifier in the 200 IM and a member of the National Honor Society. He is coached by Jillian Pointer (HS) and Mike Ballard (USS) at Heart of America Swim Club. 100 Breaststroke: 57.01 200 Breaststroke: 2:04.80 200 IM: 1:51.08 Quillan Oak, a native of Detroit Lakes, Minn., was the Minnesota state champion in the 100 breaststroke, holds four Detroit Lakes High School records and is an All-American. He is a Junior National qualifier and is coached by Rian Heimark (HS) and Pat Anderson (USS) at Marlins Swim Club. 100 Breaststroke: 56.62 200 Breaststroke: 2:02.55 200 Freestyle: 1:41.97 Andrew Parker, a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo., attends Rock Canyon High School, where he is an all-state performer, state champion and five-time state finalist.
