NYU Hires Munson as Assistant

New York University has added Rich Munson as an assistant swimming & diving coach.
 
“I am really excited to have Rich join the NYU swimming staff,” said Violet Head Coach Trevor Miele. “Having worked with him at Stevens for the past five years, I know he understands my training philosophy and I believe he will make a huge impact on the program.”
 
Munson was an assistant on Miele's staff at the Stevens Institute of Technology from 2007-08 to 2011-12. In his five seasons as an assistant, he coached 16 NCAA All-Americans and 24 NCAA Honorable Mention All-Americans. In 2011-12, Munson's final season at Stevens, both teams posted their highest-ever finishes at the NCAA Division III Championships, with the women placing fifth and the men 11th.
 
A 2000 graduate of Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in social and behavioral sciences, Munson was a four-year member of the men's swimming & diving program. He graduated with three individual school records and one relay record and was named the Seton Hall Athlete of the Year in 1999.
 
“I'm excited to start at NYU,” said Munson. “I'm really looking forward to the challenges ahead and watching the team progress.”
 
Munson will also serve as an assistant natatorium manager at NYU's Palladium Athletic Facility (PAF) and the Coles Sports Center.
 
A native of Maplewood, NJ, Munson resides in Hoboken, NJ.
