Texas' Feigen Hooks National Swimmer Honors

Texas' Feigen Hooks National Swimmer Honors Three individual conference championship swims by Jimmy Feigen (University of Texas) and two NCAA “A” cuts by Meredith Budner (Towson University) have earned the pair the Counsilman-Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmer-of-the-Week Honors.  Also winning this week’s award were Sheila Rhoades (Ithaca College) and Paul Dyrkacz (Williams College).  The four recipients were selected by coaches and media relations personnel for their performances February 22- February 28.

Division I

Meredith Budner
Towson University
Senior- Rockville, MD
Budner helped lead the Tigers to a fourth straight CAA title with two NCAA “A” cuts and an NCAA “B” cut in three individual wins at the CAA Championship meet.  She won the 500 free (4:36.85, NCAA “A” cut), the 1650 free (15:52.05, NCAA “A” cut), and the 400 IM (4:10.67, NCAA “B” cut).  All three performances were school, CAA, and CAA Championship records.  Budner was also a member of the 800 free relay (7:14.59, NCAA “B” cut) and the 400 free relay (3:21.24, NCAA “B” cut).

Jimmy Feigen
University of Texas
Junior- San Antonio, TX
Feigen helped lead the Longhorns to another Big XII title.  He won the 100 free (42.46), the 50 free (19.27), and the 100 fly (46.95).

Division III

Sheila Rhoades
Ithaca College
Senior- Dryden, NY    
Rhoades helped Ithaca to take the Empire 8 Championship by having an outstanding individual performance.  She won the 50 free (23.29) and the 200 free (1:51.80) en route to her second consecutive swimmer of the meet honors.

Paul Dyrkacz
Williams College
Sophomore- Wilbraham, MA
Dyrkacz helped Williams claim their ninth straight NESCAC championship by setting three new NESCAC records in his individual events.  He won the 200 IM (1:49.93), the 400 IM (3:53.41), and the 200 breast (2:00.35).
