Centenary Sweeps Ouachita Baptist, UNO

SHREVEPORT-The Centenary swimming teams capped off the 2011 home schedule with an impressive showing against Ouachita Baptist and University of New Orleans on Saturday afternoon as the Gents captured first and the Ladies took second.
Centenary combined for first place overall, defeating Ouachita Baptist, 101.00 to 88.00 and UNO, 165.00 to 17.00. The Gents continued to dominate the pool with a 57.00 to 38.00 win over OBU and an 82.00 to 10.00 win over UNO.

The Ladies earned an 83.00 to 7.00 win over UNO, but fell 50.00 to 44.00 to OBU to garner second-place honors.

On the day, Centenary captured 10 first-place victories and 33 Top-three finishes.

The Gents were led by Matthew Pittman, who won the 1000 Free with a time of 10.01.76 and the 500 Free (4.53.98). Also earning first place nods were Devin Ross in the 50 Free (20.60) and Josh Scott in the 100 Back (54.63).

Centenary's 200 yard Medley Relay team of Peter Henry, John Cefalu, Ross and Caleb McSorley took top honors with a time of 1:33.57, while the 200 yard Free Relay taeam of Pena, Austin Butler, McSorley and Ross won in a time of 1:23.87.

The Ladies received three first place finishes from individuals including Allison Jones in the 50 Free with a final time of 25.18, Lauren Lassiter in the 100 Back in 1:00.35 and Brittany Wilkens in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:10.12.

The 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of Michelle Gaubert, Rachel Olsen, Jones and Laura Huning placed first in 1:40.92.

Centenary will wrap up the 2011 regular season at TCU on Friday in a 6 pm start, before it travels to Indianapolis, Ind. to compete in The Summit League Championships on Feb. 16-19.
